I started learning computer programming when I was 13 years old, on a Digital PDP-11, for you nerds out there. But when the internet boom happened, I was living out in the woods at the end of a rugged dirt road with no computer at all. When I emerged from this hermitage in 2001, the world wide web had been more or less created in my absence. I had gone to sleep, like Rip Van Winkle, with a 2400 baud modem, and a decrepit 386 Toshiba "laptop" running Windows 95. I had an email address, and an offline packet reader, but it hardly mattered, because almost no one else I knew actually had email. I emerged from my slumber to find the world of websites in full swing. I got myself a Yahoo! address, an eBay account and a G3 Mac, and tried to catch up as fast as I could.

Using some online tutorials, I figured out the basics of HTML, and we made a website for our sheep flock and other farm endeavors, and I also made a website that I still have in use, specialtywoods.net. A couple of years ago, I dug a little deeper into the capabilities of my webhosting service and installed a Wordpress blog here.

There are far cleverer people out there than me writing websites. But recently, I've been asked by non-nerdy friends to write them websites. One is bealepaddles.com. If you like this look of this site or bealepaddles.com, aren't looking for a lot of fancy bling and would like a simple, clean website put together for a reasonable price, I'd be happy to talk to you about it.
